I remember the first time I heard of the Old Republic, I was at wondercon and I was debating about which costume I wanted to learn how to make at a workshop, I liked the classic, elegant beige look of the Jedi, more for my brother, whom was actually in  a school club that had 'real' lightsaber battles on campus, it was funny seeing him walk around with a toy lightsaber on his belt but it was also kinda cool lol.

However, as much as I loved the Jedi, beige has never been my color, then there was the Smuggler type they were showing us and I know the inner Han Solo in me wanted to learn this.
While I was admiring the holster someone asked me if I was in on the battle, when I asked what they meant they gave me a little flyer that had a bunch of star wars stuff on it, and circled the big mmo bit on it, "The Old Republic just went free to play you should join up and see how you like it."  A little creeped out by unintentional interaction but it seemed interesting, until now my experience with mmo's hasn't been a pleasant one, I've been playing for years on a site called gaiaonline.com, and it wasn't a real mmo so to speak, it was like....a failed attempt at an mmo, but it was really fun and I made a lot of friends there so I stayed for a long time. In time it got boring and I had gotten used to being a Poupee Elite (this basically happens when you have a lot of old and expensive items, a cute closet rating of over 5 and are very rich in ribbons and jewels), it was hard to see how I could leave my little Japanese doll world (we had our own blog too, I hosted a dress up game =w= ), but the site went dead around April and then I remembered about the Old Republic. Being friendless in general, I had nothing left to lose from this venture  and gave it a try, Ord Mantell, I will never forget the moment Skaavac took off with my ship lol

I was intrigued that my character had a personality so close to mine lol
and that's how I formed a bond with Miss Gerai Loversoul lol
I never played an mmo like this one before, and for someone starting out like me, it was easy to manuvere, had a great community, I mean people were nice to me left and right, which is why I'm sickened by so many mean people I see on the noob planets, like seriously? You never been new before? Sighs///

anyways, It took me three days to get off Ord Mantell lol
this is why: I was trying to find a delta link beta or something, anyways I haven't yet learned how to use my map, so I was just running around Ord Mantell killing things asking people, until finally someone told me to look in my map, so I did and the mission objective wasnt even in the village I was at, but it looked similar, so i checked online  and it lead me to a youtube video, and yeah, i was at the wrong place lol So I had to run back to the beginning and finally got my mission objective lol i was so happy ;w;
 Even the inbox confused me, I was like "why are all these people running the mail box if they new?" I guess they were legacies now, looking back on it, and its kinda cool to make a new char now and run up to the mailbox and have 4 mails waiting for me ;u;

Fleet was a whole thing all together, it was huge when I look back on it, but now it's just like 'meh'
there are still a lot of things I'm learning about my class that i had no clue about when I joined, it took me a while to even know what an intercom or holoterminal on my ship was until the i made the Jedi toon because Jedi's love their holoterminals.


I think the advanced class was one of the easiest decisions I had to make in regard to my other toons and this is why: I don't buy the smugglers are some hardcore old western pistol bearing sharp shooters, it's just....out of character? I mean, okay look at Han Solo the original smuggler, that guy was a bit sleazy, underhanded, had an ego the size of my fist, and was extremely cunning, a bit of a screw up maybe, but this guy could never be a top notch sharp shooter. He improvised and used the little talents he had, all while retaining a suave appearance, he rolled with a wookie~! What kind of person is that? I love Wookies, but they be dangerous, you think a classy sharp shooting genius would roll with a wookie~!!? Perhaps a droid, but certainly not a wookie, that takes some kinda of risky lifestyle, and who knows how Chewy got to work with him, he could have saved him or some nonesense. Anyways, rant over//  I picked scoundrel because the original smuggler was indeed the original "scoundrel" and I think it might be one of the best classes, though people give scoundrels a bad rep, I have no idea why.
You get to heal, implement decent amount of damage, go stealth, stealth your friends, you get to cc, and I found out that a good geared healing spec scoundrel can tank, oh yeah, this is like gaia aggro tanking which  I haven't seen anyone use in this game, but it's basically what I have to do when there is no tank in the group, having the greatest threat, idk why, but it happens, I end up healing myself until everyone else int he group has killed the mob. There is also a legend of a dirty fighting spec scoundrel being a tank, which I cannot fathom but I heard about it during the Gree event, and it intrigued me lol

Anyways, I'll be chronocling my amazing adventures here, not just  Gerai, but my other toons as well, but we can meet them properly some other day.
